Minimal Change Nephrotic Syndrome with IgA Nephropathy
Jeon Ji-Min

Jeon Mi-Young
Abstract
IgA nephropathy is the most common cause of glomerulonephritis in South Korea, while Minimal change disease(MCD) is common cause of nephrotic syndrome. MCD is well known to be responsive to glucocorticoids, while the role of steroids in IgA nephropathy remains unclear. Previous studies on coexisting MCD and IgA deposition have shown that, with the administration of steroids, renal biopsy reveal the resolution of IgA deposition. Therefore, the question have arised of whether MCD and IgA nephropathy share a component of pathophysiology. A 36-year-old female patient presented with MCD and IgA nephropathy with frequent recurrence of nephrotic syndrome. Given the improvement with immunosuppresants, subsequent biopsy reveals the resolution of IgA deposition. However, no treatment method has been established for minimal change nephrotic syndrome with IgA nephropathy. Further clinical studies are needed for better understanding of the disease.
